Skating Penguin

Wow!  Another month flown by already!!  Welcome to our new challenge at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.  As always, we are a month-long, anything (Christmas-related) goes challenge and we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.  The winner will receive 7 images of their choice!!  And boy, does Bugaboo have some adorable images to choose from.  For my card, I chose to use this adorable little penguin.  Isn't he so cute?
This sketch is so fun and is perfect for using up some scraps; I didn't even have to cut the red strip except for length.  Each of the patterned papers were scraps and the banner was cut from a piece of white scrap.    The banner was popped up with foam dots and the penguin was popped up with foam tape to create some different levels of dimension.  I just love how this card turned out!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Bugaboo Stamps "Little Penguin Winter-Skate" digi; Verve "Peace On Earth" sentiment
Dies: Spellbinders banner; the snowflakes are from Whimsy Stamps (but a friend cut it out and sent it to me along with a bunch of others--thanks Gail!)

Take Flight

Welcome to another What If? Wednesday challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a sketch for you:
This is a fun one, and here is my card:
My brother is going through some tough decisions regarding work and I thought this would make a good encouragement for him.  I started by stamping the clouds in a light blue and then I stamped the plane in red over them.  I separated the sentiment into two sections by masking it and inking up the parts I wanted to use for each section.  Head on over to The House blog for the full details and make sure you check out what the rest of the DT did with this sketch.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "9111 Bi-plane Silhouette", "3403 Clouds" and "9117 Dreams Take Flight"
Dies: Spellbinders "Classic Circles, large" and "Banners"
Papers: Pink Paislee "Declaration"

One layer

Today is my day to share my project of the week over on The House That Stamps Built blog.  I'm going to show you how to make this card with these two Repeat Impressions stamps and not a whole lot else:
 You will need:
-a card stock base (mine is white A2 sized)
-stamps ( used Repeat Impressions "Pointsettia" and "Noel")
-a straight edge
-washi tape
-markers (I used a black sharpie to draw the lines and a red sharpie to color the flowers, a gray marker for shading and a gold paint pen for the centers)
-ink (I used versamark and gold embossing powder, but you could just use black or a colored ink if you wanted it to be even easier--I also needed a heat tool for the embossing)

I used my straight edge to draw two parallel lines down the length of my paper with the black marker.
I adhered a strip of washi tape to each of the lines to create a mask.  Then I stamped my poinsettia image several times within the "frame".
I removed the tape and colored the images.
Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment and added gold paint pen to the center of the flowers (I did this after stamping my sentiment so I wouldn't smear any of the gold paint.)  I added two YNS red gumdrops and the card is finished!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Mothers

Time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week's What If? Wednesday challenge is an inspiration photo:
Ahhh . . . don't those cute little daffs make you happy?!  That's when you know spring has sprung, when the daffodils start blooming.  Here is my card for your inspiration:
My Mom's birthday was yesterday, and I created this card for her.  I started out by inking up the "Vase of Tulips" stamp and wiping the ink (very carefully) off the vase part and then stamped the tulip part.  Then I stamped the image onto a post-it note and fussy cut the tulips and leaves so I could use it as a mask.  Then I stamped the jar image over the mask and voila!  The tulips are in the jar instead of a vase.  Love it!!  I used my straight edge and craft knife to cut out the inside of the jar so I could make this fun shaker element.  I used a blue watercolor pencil to color on watercolor paper and then used a wet paintbrush to create a water look in the jar.
I stamped the sentiment "Mom's like you fill the world with sunshine" onto vellum and attached it with these jeweled brads from SU!  Then I filled up the shaker with sequins and tiny yellow and gold seed beads and added just a bit of coarse white glitter.
And here is the inside of the card:

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "1317 Vase of Tulips"; "9705 Jar"; "4020 Moms like you . . ." and "9206 Beautiful Days"

Hello

Welcome to another challenge from The Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  It's a fan favorite: Anything Goes!  Our sponsors for the challenge are:

I got to work with an image from A Creative Need (a company I was unfamiliar with before this challenge) and I chose this beautiful Bird with Script Collage:
I wanted to create a soft, water colored vintage-y look after seeing the image, so I colored it with water colored pencils and then used my Stampin' Up! blender pen to soften and "water color" it.  (If you want to see a bold, gorgeous version of this, check out my teammate Robin, she also used this image, but in a completely different way.)  I knew I wanted to use this yummy seam binding that I've had for quite a long time, so my color choices were based on it.  Head on over to the LTSCB to see the full details and how the rest of the team interpreted the challenge.

Stamps: A Creative Need "Bird with Script Collage" digi; Raisin Boat "Flourishing Thoughts"

Doggy Days

It's time for another What If? Wednesday Challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  Our color combo last week seems to have stumped most people, so maybe this week's challenge will be a little bit easier: Who Let the Dogs Out?
I don't own any dog stamps from Repeat Impressions, so I had to get a bit creative with this one.  But that's why it's a challenge, right?  It's supposed to get you thinking and being creative.  So, I pulled out a paw print embossing folder that I hadn't gotten a chance to use yet.  And I created a collar based on a card I came across on Pinterest (link will be at the bottom of the post).  I knew I wanted to use the "A Happy Hello" sentiment and with these bright, cheery colors, I think it is perfect for a dog.  Because dogs are always so happy and cheerful, and this card just makes me think of a young Black Lab ('cause that's what we have) bounding around giving a happy hello to everyone.
Here is a close up of the embossed portion:
And this is the card I got the idea from:
Now, head on over to The House Blog for the full details and to see what the rest of the DT came up with.

Friends and Flowers

WooHooo!!!  Today Is my first challenge with the DT from Jo's Scrap Shack!!  Yeay!  This week the Funday Friday Challenge is: Anything Goes.  We have two sponsors this week: Bugaboo Stamps and Robyn's Fetish.  I chose to work with this sweet image from Bugaboo Stamps that I won a couple months ago.  It's one of the images that looks really pretty as a line image, but once you color it up, it's a stunner!
I really wanted to use a sentiment about friends and flowers with this image, but just didn't have room on the front of the card.  So, I added it to the inside, added a little doodle flourish and a strip of paper that ties it in with the outside of the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you get a chance to play along with us.  I can't wait to see what you come up with.  Also, save the date for a super fun blog hop that will be coming up.

Miraculous

Welcome to another What If? Wednesday challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  This week we have a color combo for you to be inspired by:
And here is the card I created using this color scheme:
I have to admit that I struggle with color combos a bit.  But this one is very pretty for spring.  I used more muted tones of the three colors with just a pop of the darker violet.  As it turns out, I ended up really liking the colors together.  I started by stamping the larger butterflies in the three colors, than stamped the smaller, solid butterflies after stamping off first each time.  The music paper was created by heat embossing the music background with white embossing powder and then sponging on the three different colors.  Head on over to The House Blog to see how the rest of the DT interpreted this color challenge.

Supplies:
Stamps: Repeat Impressions "9009W Butterfly (small)", "5123W Butterfly Sil. (small)", "4009W In all things . . . " and "6806W Sheet Music"
Dies: MFT "Blueprints 13" stitched rectangle and "Blueprints 12" stitched circle

Hello Darling

It's time for another challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog: Big Bow Theory (add a bow to your project).  We have two sponsors this time.
Our fearless team leader, Leslie Turner is sponsoring
as well as

Oddball Art Stamps

I used this gorgeous image from Di's Digi Stamps:
I've had it sitting on my desk for weeks (perhaps even a couple months) and I've had her skin and hair colored, but hadn't colored the dress and flowers because I didn't know what card I was going to use it on.  My youngest daughter kept asking me if I was going to use it, now she can be relived. : )  The corner flourish was in my bits and pieces stash and the lace was recycled from a shirt my daughters had grown out of and was too stained to pass on.  I just love looking at the card, I think it's beautiful!  Love it!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see the full details and what the rest of the team has created.

Supplies:
Stamps: Di's Digi Stamps "Candy 1920s"
Dies: MFT corner flourish and "Smartphone" hello
