Haute Tote

Happy Friday (and I should say Happy GOOD Friday)!  It is time for another challenge at Christmas Stampin' All Year LongChristmas Packaging - Create a tag or use template to create gift packaging.  Our sponsor is Creations by AR and the winner will receive 1 template of their choice from the store!  And let me tell you, there are TONS of amazing templates to choose from.
The template I chose to work with is this beauty named Haute Tote.  I'm such an accessories girl; I love shoes, bags, jewelry (good thing I make my own), winter scarves, you name it so I just adore this template.  I also refuse to pay good money for something that I can make myself, so the idea of making something so cute to hold a Christmas gift is perfect for me. : )
It is small (5 1/4"x4 1/2" and about 1 1/2" deep on at the base), but it would be perfect for a small gift (jewelry anyone?) and the optional little pocket would also be perfect for holding a gift card.  I tried to go designer with my bag; even pulled out my sewing machine to stitch around the pink base and the top edge.  It is the perfect finishing touch.  I also sewed around the pocket but don't look too closely because it was really hard to stitch around the half circle.  I didn't add a whole lot of detail since the paper is so stunning.  Just a little tag that could say "To:/From:" and maybe have the recipient's initial embossed on the front.  I didn't do that since I don't know who I will give it to yet, though I do have a few ideas.  I also added a ribbon "scarf" to the handle, 'cause that's the thing to do, ya' know.  Oh, and I almost forgot: I embossed the pink panel at the bottom with a snowflake embossing folder.  It doesn't show up so well in the pictures, but it's really cool in real life.
If you haven't worked with templates before, don't be intimidated!  The directions are easy and everything fits together perfectly.  Hop on over to the CSAYL blog to check out all the details and the rest of the projects from the DT (I had a sneak peek and I know there is another version of this Tote, so you can see another option for it.).  Then play along for your chance to win.

Dancing

Good morning, all.  This fortnight the challenge on The Lollipop Ladies' blog is inspired by this photo
Rock candy
with the optional challenge of music.
Today (Thursday) is my day to post so this is my take on the challenge.
Now, being American (though maybe some of you out there are) I am not familiar with this candy, but for whatever reason, the pink and black really stood out to me in that maze of color.  So, that's what I went with, adding a little bit of blue for contrast.  And my use of music is subtle, but there in the sentiment.  I had a totally different card in mind when I started out, but somehow it turned into this.
You still have a plenty of time to play along, the challenge ends Tuesday the 2nd.  (And I'll tell you a secret: right now there are only 3 entries, so you'd have a really good chance of winning!)  So, hop on over to The Lollipop Ladies blog and check out all the details.  Let's see how this candy inspires you.

Challenges:
Brown Sugar #34--anything goes
Eureka #32--It's in the words
Supplies:
Stamps: Verve "Beautiful You"
Dies/punches: spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight; ovals and scalloped ovals large (I cut the scalloped oval in half and added it to the back of the filigree piece to give it more presence); Martha Stewart butterfly punch; Sizzix Botanicals embossing folder

Greetings

Happy Friday and Happy Spring!  But just 'cause it's spring doesn't mean we can't all be working on those Christmas cards, right?  Today begins another challenge at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long and this is an easy one: Anything Goes!  I know you all like that since we always have the most entries during those challenges.  This week our sponsor is Fred She Said and the winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the shop!

I got to use this gorgeous pine cone image.  There was already some shading in the image so it was a breeze to color.  I added a little glitter pen to the pine needles, but it's hard to see in the pictures.  Hop on over to the CSAYL blog to check out all the details and to see what the other DT members have created.  Then play along, we'd really love to have you.

Challenges:
Tuesday Morning Sketches #190--sketch
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra--anything goes as long as it is Christmas related
Charisma Cardz #11--die cuts

Supplies:
Stamps: Fred She Said "Pine Cone Spray"; Verve "Ornamental Christmas"

Under the Sea

This card was inspired by my youngest daughter.  Her favorite Disney princess is Ariel and as soon as I saw this digi (A Day For Daisies freebie as long as you play in their challenge) I knew I had to make a card for her. And I knew I wanted to create scales to mimic a mermaid's tail.  It took a bit of time and used almost an entire sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, but it came out perfectly.  I used my SU! scalloped border punch, inked up the edges with a little green for definition and to match a bit better to the digi color, then I staggered them and adhered them to a scrap paper.  After they were all adhered, I spritzed them with some glimmer mist to make them sparkly and magical.  You can see the glimmer mist and the glitter pen I added to the mermaid's tail in the second picture.

Challenges:
ADFD--anything goes (as long as you use one of their images)
House Of Gilli #51--anything goes with flowers and/or ribbons (I used ribbons)

Supplies:
Stamps: ADFD mermaid digi (a freebie if you play along in this challenge)
Dies/punches: Spellbinders "Fleur de Lis Squares" die; SU! scalloped border punch

Look who's turning . . .

This dotted paper kind of reminded me of balloons or party confetti and was, therefore, the basis for the card.  Obviously, I had to go with bright, celebratory colors and a big glittery seven.

Challenges:
Seems a Little Sketchy--sketch

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI "Big Birthday Wishes" heat embossed with black embossing powder
Dies: PTI "By the Numbers" die; Spellbinders "You Are Here" arrow die

Rainbows

Still working on birthday invitations.  Actually I sent them out, just hadn't had a chance to post them yet.  this is a nice and easy one.  Just a rainbow of balloons with a few scored lines with a glittered strip in the center.

Challenges:
Fabulous Fridays--Up, Up and Away

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! "Mini Messages" and "Beyond the Basics" confetti; Verve "Birthday Phrases"

Balloons

Getting ready to celebrate the oldest's 7th birthday.  So of course, you need fun invitations.  I went all SU! (almost) on this one and pulled out some sets I haven't used in forever!
Just a fun little picture of what happens when you let two four year olds loose with a spoon and a bowl of melted chocolate.  Check out those faces!

Challenges:
JUGS #180--green, white, orange

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! "Beyond the Basics" confetti, "Bold Shapes"; Verve "Birthday Phrases"
SU! Rhinestone brads: ice circles and fire circles

Let's Party

My oldest turns 7 on Monday!  Because of scheduling conflicts with some family members, we are going to have her party on Easter weekend.  I'm finishing up the invitations as I need to get them out ASAP.

I used a glitter pen to trace along the flourish, but it's very hard to see.  You can see it a little bit better in this second picture specially along the left hand edge of the card.

Challenges:
{Pin}spirational Challenges #48--inspirational photo (I really loved the patterns on the shamrocks, so I took my inspiration from the green color and the plaid pattern on the middle shamrock)

Just Add Ink #157--Just Add Green
Viva La Verve March week 3--sketch
Brown Sugar Challenges #33--Numbers

Supplies:
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps "Elegant Flourishes"; Verve "Birthday Phrases" sentiment; SU! "Mini Messages" balloon stamped and cut out"
Dies: spellbinders circles and scalloped circles, large; PTI "By the Numbers" die
Paper: DCWV

Jesus

Happy Friday, everyone!  Time for another challenge at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long.  This week's challenge is: Sparkle and Shine
Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and the winner will receive 7 images to play with

Brown and gold are definitely not a traditional Christmas color scheme and not a color scheme I would use at all normally.  But when I got this adorable image to play with, it just sort of fell together.  Because without adding a metallic, it was going to be hard to get sparkle and shine to pair with a manger image.  There wasn't a whole lot of sparkle and shine going on there!
So, I added glitter to the star in the image and glittered the two die cut stars as well, and I used recycled gold wrapping paper for the "shine" effect.  Check it out, I also pulled out my sewing machine and actually sewed around the edges of all the layers!  And let me tell you, I think the card turned out super cute!  Head on over to the CSAYL blog to check out the full details and see the sparkly creations form the other DT girls.  Then get out your glitter and shiny stuff and play along.

Challenges:
Viva La Verve March week 1--sketch

CRAFT Challenge #198--Christmas in March

Supplies:
Stamps: Bugaboo Stamps "Christmas Word--Jesus" digi; Verve "Richly Blessed" sentiment

Daisies

I have to start by saying I LOVE this card!  Sometimes, I'm not so crazy about some of the cards I make, I just feel like they "need" something, other times, I like them a lot and sometimes, I love them!  This is one of those times.  It came out just how I imagined, only better.

Anyway, today is my day to post my project on The Lollipop Ladies blog for the current challenge: Daisy Pops with the additional challenge of stripes.  Here is the inspiration photo

Guest DT spots are able to be won each fortnight
and our sponsor this fortnight is: Forever Markers & Craft Supplies

(thanks to Jane).
The prize is a Pink SMASH book with tag book!!!

I wasn't sure that I could pull off daisies, but I went looking through my stamp collection and found this set from SU! "Decoratively Daisy" that I have had for a looooooong time.  Then I had to think about how to use it, because daisies are white and white ink on white paper doesn't really show up very well.  Recently, I had used white embossing powder on an image on white paper and it had been really elegant, so I figured I would give that a try, but of course, I couldn't find white embossing powder.  All I could find was clear.  So, I stamped the daisies with versamark and embossed it with clear powder and it was fabulous.  Then I inked the center stamp with versamark and then a pale yellow ink and heat embossed that with clear powder.  Also fabulous!!  It needed just a touch more so I inked the leaf stamp in versamark and then a pale green and embossed that clear powder, too.  If you ink with versamark and then your colored ink, it will stay wet long enough to hold the embossing powder and by using colored inks and clear embossing powder, you can emboss in any color you want.  You don't have to have a million colors of embossing powder.  There you go, tip for the day. : )  I used the same technique on my tag, but I stamped my sentiment first because you can't stamp OVER embossed images, it just wipes right off.  And I let the sentiment dry for a while so the embossing powder wouldn't stick to it, though in hindsight, it's just clear powder so it wouldn't have changed the sentiment any.  My stripes are a new embossing folder I just got last weekend.  So, there you have Daisies and stripes.  Now, hop on over to The Lollipop Ladies blog for all the details and play along.  I'd love to see your take on the challenge.

Challenges:
Retro Sketches #54--sketch

Jonquils

Nothing says spring quite like Daffodiles and I just noticed that I have the beginnings of one up in my back yard.  I have several clumps here and there that are a couple inches tall, but this one actually has the flower starting to form.  And I also have crocuses in bloom.  Yes, spring is coming here in the Northeast despite the snow we had last weekend.  So, this card is a little bit of spring-y sunshine for you.  Enjoy.

Star in the heavens

I have wanted to make a card like this for a while, but don't have the right star die.  But this week's color challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown challenge was the perfect opportunity to make it work anyway.  So, I used a star stamp on the back of the panel and cut it out using my craft knife.  And it came out pretty much like I imagined.  I think the card could use some more embellishment, but I just couldn't figure out what that should be and I'm pretty happy with it as it.
This picture shows the popped up layer a little better.

Challenges:
Sweet 'n' Sassy Digi Challenge #95--go green or recycle (the gold panel is recycled gold textured wrapping paper from  Christmas.  My brother-in-law always finds really cool wrapping paper and I though it was just too pretty to throw away!  It had to be good for something, right?)
JUGS #179--negative die

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown--black, gold, white

Supplies:
Stamps: Word Art By Karen "Matthew 2:10" digi; Verve "Star of Wonder" star to use to cut out the star
Recycled gold wrapping paper.

Party Time

I can't believe it, but my oldest is turning 7 in a couple weeks!!!  I don't think it can be possible.  That also means it is time to make invitations to the part.  Her favorite color is green, so of course, that was a no-brainer. : )

Challenges:
Eureka Stamps #29--2 of everything: 2 images (one can be a sentiment), 2 patterned papers, 2 embellishments (I used 2 papers, two stamped panels, 2 different color rhinestones, 2 ovals, two rectangles, two twine bows . . . you get the point)
Sweet Sketch Wednesday #196--sketch

Fab n' Funky #161--cute and cuddly (the little black puppy is cute and cuddly)
Inkspirational Challenges #10--shades of green

Clearly Inspired Challenges #70--die cuts

Papers: Basic Grey; DCWV

Queen for a Day

Ok, so this post has a lot of pictures and a lot of blah, blah, blah so I posted the picture of the final product first so that you can just look at that and move on, if that's what you want to do.  But you can keep reading if you're interested.  The little circle card I already posted and you can find it here.  My best friend's birthday is the 12th and I made this card for her.  Then to package up her gift (don't judge, we don't go crazy, just a little something works) I decided to make something that coordinated with the card.  Isn't it sweet?!  I mentioned in the post for the card, that I needed to have a sentiment that said "Queen for a day" to go with my theme.  As you can see on the tag, I now have one!  Yeay!!!  It was made for me by Mynnette Kitchen (as I had a card showcased on Technique Time Tuesdays challenge blog) and it is fabulous.  She added the little crown and it is the perfect finishing touch! (Thanks Mynnette)
Now, here's whats in the gift.  I just recently started making these fabric flowers for a few things that needed accessorizing and my friend really has a thing for black and white.  I hotglued a pin on the back so it can be pinned on a purse, scarf, jacket, whatever.  I made a smaller pair for myself to clip on shoes, but that's different story. : )
Then I made her this pair of earrings, 'cause that's what I do and who doesn't love a new pair of earrings!?  I have these earring cards and I just use swirl and butterfly stamps to dress it up a bit.
This picture shows the two  boxes that those gifts went into and I created a lattice effect with ribbon (to fit Squigglefly's challenge to use ribbon other than just to tie a bow) and added two little tags.  If you enlarge the photo you can see I added a rhinestone to the center of the crown on the sentiment.  Little things . . .

Then I made this super yummy body scrub.  I changed the recipe a bit, I used 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 epsom salts for the sugar part and I added a little bit of Vanilla extract for aroma.  It smells awesome and looks just like cookie dough, but if you make it, don't eat it 'cause the epsom salts make it really bitter.  I know . . . from experience.  You could eat it, though cause everything is natural.
Anyway, then I made another little tag and added a description to the top and everything is all ready to go.
Phew!  You made it!  Thanks for hanging in there.

Challenges:
Flat Friends #6--friendship
Cutie Pie Challenges #39--magical
Squigglefly #9--ways with ribbon other than bows

So festive

Happy Friday!  Time for another challenge at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long.  This is an easy one so make sure you play along: use patterned paper.
How easy is that?!  Our sponsor is Bearly Mine Designs and the prize is a gift certificate for the winner.  Bearly Mine has lots of gorgeous digital papers and the DT was given the chance to showcase papers from the set "Festive Fun".  I have hardly used digital papers, but these papers are beautiful!  See that light blue Damask?  Yeah, I'm going to be using this ALL the time!  For everything, not just Christmas cards.  So, hop on over to the CSAYL blog to check out the other DT projects and all the details.  Then make sure you play along.

Peace

I already had these papers out for another project (coming later in the week) and I just love this blue damask so much, I had to use it again.  I seriously could use this on every project.  Damask is just my favorite design element.

Challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge #31--greetings
52 {Christmas} card throwdown--sketch
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra--any Christmas card

Supplies:
Stamps: Verve "Star of Wonder" (star embossed with silver; sentiment embossed with clear)
Papers: Bearly Mine Designs "Festive Fun"

Loss

For whatever reason this card was extremely difficult to make.  Well, I guess I know . . . I just didn't have anything that worked for my upper panel.  Nothing seemed to be the right color and it just wasn't working for me.  Finally, I discovered that sheet of tan paper in my stash and with a little inking around the edges it works.  Unfortunately, I am in need of a couple sympathy cards right now.  They aren't usually ones that I make, but I really should make some to have in my stash.

Challenges:
CRAFT #196--embossing (the blue panel is embossed with an embossing folder and inked with SU! creamy caramel ink)
DRS Designs #61--sympathy
JUGS #178--sketch

Supplies:
Stamps: Skipping Stones Designs "Dandelion Dreams"; Verve "Joyful Blooms" sentiment; Hero Arts "French Script
Dies/embossing folders: Verve "Charming Ovals" dies; Cuttlebug tin embossing folder

Thank You

This may have been one of the fastest cards I have ever made.  Maybe it's because I already had the card base cut and folder and the chevron strip of paper only needed to be trimmed, or maybe it's because it was such a fun sketch.  I don't know, but it was fast and I love it.
Here's a view from the side.  For a little bit extra fun, I die cut the butterfly from the top layer and popped it up on foam tape

Challenges:
Flutter by Wednesdays #229--3 or more layers
Inkspirational challenges #9--sketch

Fabulous Fridays (Frosted Designs)--chevrons
Stamping with Dragon--anything goes

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink "Through the Trees" sentiment
Dies: PTI butterfly
Paper: Basic Grey

Black and White

Ok, so maybe lots of you already know this, but I was on pinterest this week (anyone know about that?) and found out that you can color pearls with Sharpie markers!!!  Yeah, I'm a little slow. : )  My wonderful husband got me a pack of colored sharpies for Christmas this year and now I know exactly what to use them for.  It's awesome!!  Although, I didn't color pearls, I colored rhinestones instead.  See those red beauties in the lower right corner?  Sharpies!  I think I'm addicted.  I made 6 cards yesterday and used this technique on 3 of them.  Don't have the right color?  No problem, just color them.

Challenges:
Our Daily Bread Designs Blog #144--Black and White
Eureka Stamps #28--Flower Power
Sweet Sketch Wednesdays #195--sketch

Clearly Inspired Challenge #69--black and white with a pop of color

Sparkles Christmas Challenge #26--3 flowers, 2 gems, 1 image
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge extra--any Christmas card

Supplies:
Stamps: Dearie Dolls penguin digi; Verve "Merry and Bright" snowflakes

Round and round

This is a sweet birthday card I made for a sweet friend.   If I had a stamp that said "Queen for a Day" I totally would have used it since it would go perfectly with this pumpkin carriage.  But I think the sentiment "celebrating you" works too.  I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but the sentiment reads "bring on the HAPPY".

Merry and bright

Happy Friday and Happy March 1st!!  I can't believe 2 months of 2013 have already gone by.  Time sure flies when you're having fun.  Since it's Friday, it's time for another challenge from Christmas Stampin All Year Long and we have a gorgeous inspiration photo for you today.  Here it is:
Pinned Image
I went with the color scheme (except I don't quite have that exact stunning shade of blue) and the red scallops.  Our sponsor this week is Emma Canning and she has generously donated 2 images of choice to  . . . THREE lucky winners.  Now doesn't that make you want to play along?  I used the image All Lit Up.  I think I have 4 or 5 of Emma's images and they are all stunning.  They are so stylish and chic and really fun to color.  Head on over to the CSAYL blog to find out all the details and see what the other DT members have come up with.  I think we have all gotten to use different images, so you will have some serious eye-candy to look at.
Updated to add a second card:
So, I had a little mix up with this challenge.  I had to make my card before we had actually gotten the images from Emma Canning, so I used an image I already had for my first card at the beginning of the post.  Then I received the image I was supposed to use, and I had time, so I made a second card.  As I was adhering everything together, I realized that this challenge from CSAYL is to make a card using that gorgeous inspiration photo up top there and this card wasn't even close!!  Oh well, too late now.  This card does have blue (just the wrong shade!) and little hints of red accents and some white so if you really stretch it . . . maybe . . . probably not.

See the cute little rhinestones I added to embellish the image?  There is a red one in the brunette's hair, maybe a little jeweled hair pin, and a blue one on the cowl neck of the black haired girl's sweater, kind of like a brooch.  I thought they were a fun little detail.
